Anklam Extrakt GmbH offers a wide range of products which includes Melissa officinalis – folium. Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is a perennial herb from the mint family (Lamiaceae), which is native to the Mediterranean region. Lemon balm can reach a height of 0.70m to 1.50m. It can reproduce by vegetative propagation or through seeds; as a wild plant, it can live as long as 25 years. It is harvested in the wild in Albania, Bulgaria and other southern and eastern European countries and cultivated extensively throughout Europe and North America. The varieties differ in their essential oil and rosmarinic acid content.
The leaves of the lemon balm are traditionally used to alleviate minor symptoms of stress and make it easier to sleep. Furthermore, they have proven themselves in the symptomatic treatment of mild gastrointestinal problems which are accompanied by the formation of gas, flatulence etc. Contact us for more information.
