Crospovidone is a synthetic, cross-linked, water-insoluble homopolymer of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone. It is primarily used in the pharmaceutical industry as a "superdisintegrant" in oral tablets and capsules, allowing them to rapidly swell and break apart in the digestive tract to release the active medication.
