Spermidine, also known as spermidine trihydrochloride, is a polyamine. Widely distributed in living organisms, it is biosynthesized from putrescine (butanediamine) and adenosine methionine. Spermidine inhibits neuronal synthase, binds and precipitates DNA; it is also used to purify DNA-binding proteins and stimulates T4 polynucleotide kinase activity. on September 1, 2013, a collaborative study by German and Austrian scientists indicated that spermidine may prevent the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
Agmatine (AGM) is converted from arginine by the action of arginine decarboxylase (ADC) in the mitochondrial membrane of the cell. It is now believed that agmatine may be one of the endogenous regulators of nitric oxide (N O) synthesis, which can inhibit nitric oxide synthase (N O S) in a substrate competitive manner, reduce N O production in pathological states and thus achieve its vasodilatory and anti-inflammatory effects on blood vessels.
