Product description

MgCl Food grade (99.0% pure) is a pure magnesium chloride hexahydrate crystals (MgCl2.6H2O) which can be used in a wide variety of food products and applications. Magnesium chloride is a natural alternative to traditional table salt (sodium chloride), with excellent possibilities in lowering the sodium content without loss of taste and functionalities. 

It is used as sodium replacement in bakery, dairy and meat applications as well as a coagulant in tofu production, as electrolyte in production of sport drinks, and as a flavouring agent. Adding magnesium chloride to food and drinks could make them a source of magnesium while lowering sodium content.

Origin

Magnesium chloride from Nedmag is produced out of the mineral bischofite, found in salt layers in the Northern part of the Netherlands.
