    Cluster Dextrin, also called Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin (HBCD) is a new type of carbohydrate for sports nutrition. It is manufactured from corn starch utilizing enzymatic reactions, and it shows high solubility due to uniform molecular weight, despite high molecular weight. In addition, the solution of Cluster Dextrin shows low osmolality and results in fast gastric emptying time. Several studies have been published examining the effectiveness of highly branched cluster dextrin use in sports nutrition, including a swimming endurance study with highly branched cluster dextrin.
